M Y S T O R Y
For almost fifty years I have favored using geometric shapes as components in my creative projects, designing two and three-dimensional works for Corporate America. This work provided me with the opportunity to become very adept at using a computer to intuitively create designs for my fiber art pieces. Then each design is custom printed on organic cloth and quilted similar to a whole-cloth-quilt.
By distilling my creative ideas down to simple geometric forms, I can make pieces that have a strong impact through color, scale or bold shapes. Drawing inspiration from the clarity of line in work by color field painters like Gene Davis, Frank Stella and Ellsworth Kelly, my geometric textile designs are infused with many elements including color, pattern, repetition and an attraction to shapes in human made structures.
Through a lifetime of working with textiles in various forms, along with a talented artistic family to encourage my creativity, I have developed my passion for textiles and the tactile nature of the medium. The possibilities for my creative pursuits are endless.
